Important Notification Regarding Sports Physicals for the 2017-2018 School Year
As of June 1, 2008, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, P.I.A.A., has established that all sports physicals must be comprehensive in nature. What this means to our school district and the student-athletes is that physicals at the school will no longer be offered at this time. If this changes for fall sports athletes, we will post it on the district and athletic website. Each student wishing to participate in a sport next school year will need to have a physical examination completed on the P.I.A.A. comprehensive form and submitted to the athletic office prior to the beginning of any given season. Please, make sure that the CIPPE Form is dated after June 1, 2017. There are NO exceptions!!
Forms are available on the internet at www.piaa.org or at jamesbuchananathletics.org.
The basic guidelines to these comprehensive physicals are these:
1] They must be dated June 1, 2017, or later
2] They must be done by an authorized medical examiner (MD, DO, PAC, CRNP, or SNP)
3] Physical evaluations are only for use during the 2017-2018 school year.
If at any point during a given season the student is injured, they would need to be re-certified by their physician for participation in another season. A student-athlete participating in more than one sport will need to fill out Section 6 before each subsequent season of participation.
If you should have any questions in regards to sports physicals for next school year, please don't hesitate to call the athletic director at 328-2146 ext: 2210.
